Info
Hi! My name is P. and I'm currently a university student. I wanted to start a website out of a desire to have a little bit more sovereignty over my own data and overall my own life. Here you'll find a bunch of my projects and a blog which I'll try to upload weekly!
What to do
Today I see the world on fire.
I'm asking myself if that feeling is just the figment of my dopamine-fueled scrolling of if it is a consequence of past generation's mistakes. Regardles, it seems like we're screwed. So I ponder and ask, what is there left to do? On an individual and structural level? Here are a few answers I found to my own questions:
Remove Big Data from your life
The current system is being upheld by Big Data which currently controls all our consumption of media. Big Data uses the data we produce, by using their services for free, and processes and stores that data for advertisers. As a matter of fact, I don't need to explain the obvious to all of you.
However, what is ignored or at the very least treated like an open secret(when truth be told, it isn't), is the fact that these companies use your data and sell it as surveillance data to corpos and government bodies.
It's not me saying this, it's the FBI.
Sure, none of us are targets, for now. But one day you'll be the opposition they seek to remove. One day, you'll be a target to the very people who guaranteed your security and your freedom.
As much as I say I hate AI, the technology itself is actually quite interesting and revolutionary. But we all know, at least on a subconscious level, that such a technology is not profitable. Unless, that technology were to be heavily subsidized by the state.
Imagine having a little CIA and FBI agents on every device, on steroids, and able to operate 24/7, for half the cost of human surveillance or other methods currently not using AI(basic algorithms, etc...). Once AI corporations will realize that it's profit margins, at least in the early stages, will not come from civilian use of it's technology but rather from government agencies, only then will the industry ever be profitable.
It's already the case now, just look at Chat Control or the Age ID verification laws that are currently being passed in multiple constituencies around the world.
It's not a coincidence, it's planned.
The only way to be able to get rid of this is to eliminate any further data collection done on your person. While it is not a structural solution, on an individual level it is very helpful. Look for alternatives to "free" services you currently use. Nextcloud instead of Google Drive, Mastodon instead of X, etc... Big Data preys on the conformism of modern society to harvest your data. Do not conform.
I reccomend looking into Open Source software or even hardware, a good start would be Linux or self-hosting.
This is why I own my own website, among other things, I want my voice to be heard without it being constantly monitored and recorded in the name of profit or "stability".
Fighting the system
Outside of the individual actions you can take, you can also participate in collective action as well. By any means neccesary, remain a dissident. I do not believe in the idea of being a "nationalist" or even neccesarily a "patriot". I believe first and foremost in democracy, before the love of my country. A country is not a parent, or a sibling, etc... My love for it is not unconditional. I can be american today, and french tomorrow.
I'm not saying to not love your country, I'm telling you to put into question why you do. Whatever comes out of it, should answer the question of if your country is worthy of that love.
A country is supposed to be a reflection of it's people, it's culture, and it's thoughts. In most of the western world, those ideas are enshrined in liberalism, which include but are not limited to: liberal democracy, freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, tolerance, multiculturalism(to a certain extent, due to colonialism and obviously racist policies), etc...
If these values are not reflected in our governance or our way of living, then in what way do these countries represent us? We have beeen taught by our families the story of our countries and why they are the way they are.
For me, that story was one of fascism. The idea that it could return in Europe or America sickened me and my family for years. Yet here we are today.
I'm seeing the return of fascism, an ideology which seeks to protect the elites of society through sewing division, by claiming that Europe and America are "white" or "caucasian"(which, they are not and have not been for at least more than a millenia). How is this then, an ideology founded to serve the elites, to serve capital, in any way a representation of who we are? The western world created the working industrial class and to some extent the modern service economy, why should our governance be represented by the likes of Elon Musk? An african, mind you.
The solution is a constant fight against this system which imposes social control and will continue to do so. I personally do not interact with any debates which try to establish a "methodology" and do not subcribe to any specific ideology. In my personal opinion, as long as you are against the system that is currently being put in place, you are on the right side of history and should be at the very least credited for your efforts.
Once a government put in place, we must look within ourselves, as the western world, what lead us to commiting the same mistake twice. We must even, in my personal opinion at least, examing our previous commitments to liberalism, as political solution to tyranny. If I may be frank with all of you, I do not believe those who seek to destroy our freedoms and dignity should ever be able to show their faces again.
Conclusion
In short, protect yourself and continue the fight! Only when and if the dust has settled can we try and think of a better way to do things. I believe that the system they're trying to impose on us is only beginning to make itself known. Therefore, it is a race against the clock. Praise be to all who fight for us everyday, may the fruits of your labor feed the world of tomorrow, as you rid the spoiled remains of the past!
Cool shit(+archives!)
